How often should I shave 'down there?'?

Im a 16 year old girl and I shave my but I was just wondering how often I should do it, I currently shave every 4 - 7 days but everytime I do it can be pretty uncomftorbal and painfull, how often should I shave to prevent this? And what can I do to make it easier? :') and cleaner, thanksss x x
