Would this be considered ist?

Having to choose a person that is female or a group of mainly female people for a clwork ignment? It wasn't really an ignment, just we were asked to select a person that our teacher would help out with a monetary sum or through some online service or something, but the person had to be female. It couldn't be male. She even emphasised it multiple times. Would that be considered ist?
