How does atheism help a society?

If morals are based on the opinions of the majority of people,then the people decide what is good and bad.However,you know Catholicism and Islam have not really benefited any society.The point is,if a society was founded by evil men making evil laws,the society would obey these laws.Not saying that atheists are not good people,but if an evil society is ruled the people then are evil with it.So would you agree that morals come from God?Again,morals are based on a religion,which is based from a book.If you compare all the religions of the world,wouldn't Christianity be the best choice?Also know,Catholicism is not Christianity.Luke 6:31 Do unto others,as you would have others do unto you.Mark 12:31 Love thy neighbor as thyself.John 13:34 Love one another.
