Why don't people of other religions understand that Buddha is not a God?

B/c people in America are use to perceiving God as God so they have a hardtime comprehending a religion without one. Bear with them, explain to them he was not a god but a teacher. You can try to explain that he was similar to an Old Testament prophet (they might have a better understanding then). Good luck
